As an Atlassian partner, we are hugely excited about the new release of Confluence which has just been released.
Confluence 3.5 delivers HTML5 supported Drag and Drop, a new Multimedia Macro and a vastly improved Code Macro letting you create richer content, faster, to share with others.
Check out the short video below to see the features in action and keep reading for more details:
This is only scratching the surface of Confluence 3.5 – there are many, many more new features.
Embed Audio and Video. Just Drag and Drop.
If you’re using a HTML5 browser like Safari 5 or Firefox, you can now take advantage of Drag and Drop for attaching files and documents to Confluence. Try dragging documents, images and even multimedia – Flash, Quicktime, Windows Media etc – straight from your Desktop into the Confluence Rich Text Editor. Confluence will not only attach the file to the page but insert the content into the page for you too. It couldn’t be easier to create pages full of rich content.
Let’s take a tutorial video, saved in Flash, as an example. Dragging the file into the Confluence Rich Text Editor does two things:
1. Attaches the file to the page
2. Inserts the video into the page for playback using the Multimedia Macro
If you need to change the height and width, or specify the video to play automatically when the page loads, you can do so via the Macro Browser.
Whether you’re looking for feedback, or just want to share something interesting, Confluence makes it quick and easy to share videos and audio with your colleagues.
An Extended, Better Looking Code Macro
The all-new and improved Code Block Macro, let’s you share snippets of code – HTML, C++, Java, Python, Ruby, and more. Choose from 20 different syntax highlighting options, toggle the display of line numbers, and apply a code theme like Emacs. There are dozens of combinations to choose from, making it really easy to share and document snippets of frequented code with your team.
With Confluence 3.5 the editing experience just got a whole lot richer.
(We’ll cover other features of the new release in future posts…)
We’ll be urging our existing Confluence customers to get upgraded to 3.5 ASAP. If you’d like to know more about Atlassian, the Confluence product or upgrading to the 3.5 release, please get in touch…
